All of the Himalayan regions in India and Nepal require trekker to obtain permits and to pay certain fees. The majority of these will be covered in the cost of the trek, unless otherwise specified. Climbing in the Himalayas requires prior permission and additional special permits. The fees to climb in India are considerably less than in Nepal, but still must be budgeted as an additional expense. The fees are higher for the higher peaks and/or more restricted areas. Also, special mountaineering "X" visas are required (by the Government of India), in your passport prior to entering the Country. You must obtain the above mentioned visa from the Indian Embassy in your Country, once the expedition has been cleared by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and the Government of India.

A liaison officer must accompany each foreign expedition team, and will be appointed and outfitted by the I.M.F. The team must pay for these costs which amount to approximately US $500. In addition, the team is responsible for all booking fees for their new team member (liaison officer). Finally, each expedition must pay a non-refundable environmental levy of US $400.

If you are interested in mountaineering in the Himalayas with a yogic focus, please contact us for complete and updated information.
