India Trek: Har Ki Dun

Har Ki Dun is located in the Western range of Uttaranchal. From here, one gets a beautiful darshan (view) of snow-capped peaks—mainly the Swargarohini range (the Pandavas 'stairway' to heaven).

The Pandavas were five brothers who were the heroes of The Mahabharata, The Hindu Epic.

Day 1: New Delhi
Arrive in New Delhi in the late evening and drive to a lovely hill station, Mussoorie, (approximately 7 hrs) where you will get your first views of the snowy peaks. Check in at guesthouse upon arrival, then rest and enjoy a late breakfast or early lunch. The day is yours to spend unwinding and acclimating to your new surroundings. Yoga class will be held in the afternoon before dinner.

Day 2: Mussoorie (1,921m/6,320 ft.)

There will be an optional walking tour to Cloud's End or Everest House. We will return to Mussoorie by motor transport after lunch.

Day 3: Mussoorie
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will spend the day relaxing and organizing our gear for trekking. Later in the evening we can visit the Radha/Krishna Temple for a beautiful sunset darshan.

Walk from Sankri

Day 4: Sankri
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will drive seven hours from Mussoorie to the road-head at Sankri toward the Yamuna River. Once across it, we will arrive in the Tons Valley. Sankri is a small village situated at the meeting of the Supin and Tons Rivers.

Day 5: Beyond Taluka
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will trek 12km (3-4 hrs) along a forest of chestnut, sycamore and deodar trees, while taking in the beauty of the wildflowers (May/June). The Har Ki Dun area is part of the Govind National Park and is renowned for its wildflowers.

Day 6: Seema
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will trek 14km (6 hrs) along the Supin River Valley, winding through beautiful fields of wheat and barley. Seema is situated across the river and just below Osla, the last village of this valley.

Day 7: Har Ki Dun
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will trek 12km (6 hrs) high above the valley floor and the confluence of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Rivers. The waterfall and river crossings along the way add to the charm of this valley. The energy here is quite magical.

Day 8: Explore Jaundhar Glacier
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will trek 8km (3.5 hrs) towards the towering presence of the Swargarohini range. They loom in the distance inspiring each look with the devotion and fortitude of the trials and ultimate end of the Pandavas. On this day, we take in the wonderful vibrations from these famous peaks and the surrounding glacier. Afterwards, we trek back the same 8km (2 hrs) and enjoy evening at camp.

Osla Children

Day 9: Seema
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We return to Seema by a side trip to the beautiful village of Osla, exemplary of the local architecture, and truly a treat to see. It is situated high above the river and appears as a jewel from when looking up from Seema below. It is approximately a 5-hour walk to camp.

Day 10: Before Taluka
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We trek 14km (4 hrs) back towards Taluka along side the Supin River. The sound of the rushing water adds a nice, relaxing quality to the trek making this night's sleep one of the best!

Day 11: Mussoorie
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
This 12km trek goes by quickly (2 hrs) as we move towards the road head. We will load up the jeeps and drive (7 hrs) back to Mussoorie making this a long day. The nice, hot bath at the guesthouse and clean clothes will reward your extra effort.

Day 12: Mussoorie
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will walk around town exploring the local shops and purchase gifts for your friends and family back home.

Day 13: Mussoorie
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
You will spend the day relaxing and gathering things for your return home. We will enjoy an evening celebration to end our journey together.

Day 14: New Delhi
Morning yoga at 6:30 before breakfast
We will say our goodbyes and depart for Delhi. Most flights leave between midnight and 2 a.m. You can rest for a while at the Radisson Hotel and wash up before going to the airport.

Price Includes: daily yoga instruction, roundtrip ground transportation from Delhi, accommodations and meals while not in Delhi; and equipment such as: two-person tents, dining tent, foam mats, stools and all cooking and kitchen gear; all trekking expenses, support crew and sightseeing within the tour program; professional guides and escorts throughout the trip; all admissions and special service charges as per itinerary.

Price Excludes: international flight and airport taxes; visa and passport fees; medical and trip cancellation insurance; accommodation while in Delhi; any personal expenses such as: laundry, phone calls, alcoholic beverages, gratuity for our crew and any personal medical expenses; personal camping gear such as: sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc.
